There are so many things that travel can do for you and your future. Be that with your partner, your family or your friends. It gives you that all-important quality time together to bond and reconnect. It gives you time to relax from the usual daily grind of school runs and routines. But it can also give you the perfect opportunity to gain some perspective, which is a valuable life lesson no matter how old you are. So how can 2020 be the year of travel for you? Here are some suggestions to get you going and to hopefully turn this year into the best year yet.

Write a 2020 bucket list.

First of all, get excited and write a bucket list for 2020. Make a note of all the places you would like to go. Traveling doesn’t necessarily mean flamboyant trips abroad, it could even mean traveling to the next town or city that you have never explored. A place in the country you live that you have never been to. Make a note, big and small, and then you know all the destinations you want to see and experience. This is when you can start to plan your year. Get the school calendar out and look at the time your children are off, the summer holidays are always a great option. However, there is the bank holiday weekend to consider as well as the shorter half term breaks.

Think about different ways to fund your plans.

Travel often means money, even if you are just jumping in your car and heading thirty minutes away from home, so it is important to consider your financial options. Savings and wages can probably afford you the smaller trips with some clever budgeting, but you may want to consider a loan or credit card for some of the bigger excursions. Maybe you should invest in real estate abroad as a great investment option. Things like a Portugal Golden Visa could be a great option to consider. Whether you choose to invest, or maybe look at credit, it is also important to ensure that you are able to keep up with payments and that you don’t put yourself in any financial predicaments.

Look at ways it can be educational.

Travel can actually be fiercely educational, if you think about it. There are different elements that could be big factors in different towns, cities or other parts of the world. But not only does history play a big part but you can also experience some of the cultural side of things. From trying new and exciting foods and ingredients, to witness how other people live, it can be educational but it can also help you and your family gain some perspective and appreciate things at home a little more.

What about a trip of a lifetime?

Finally, maybe 2020 is the year for a trip of a lifetime. That holiday that you only ever plan to do once. Maybe traveling a few different countries or heading to the other side of the world. While you can use holidays for this, some families have even considered getting permission from their school and taking a few months away to experience some of the most amazing places this world has to offer. With a promise to educate and keep up with the school curriculum, it could be a very rewarding time to take that trip of a lifetime.

Let’s hope that this has encouraged you to consider travel as a focus for the new year. Let us know where you plan to go.
