Famed for its part in the civil war and its astounding peach production, South Carolina is a U.S. state which is well worth a visit. Whether you head here for a weekend or a relaxing week away, it’s sure to have something to suit your fancy.

Its stunning beach settings are, by far, the best thing about this destination. But, South Carolina has plenty to offer besides the historic town of Charleston and beautiful sites like Brookgreen Gardens. In short; there’s plenty to keep each day of your stay chock full and occupied.

But, it’s not your South Carolina days which we’re going to focus on here. After all, any vacation can fall a little flat if you don’t get up to much during the evenings. No matter how jam-packed your days are, you could come away with a bad taste if you spend nights locked in your hotel. Which is why we think that it’s essential to make the most of your SC nights, too.

The trouble is that most guides out there focus solely on daytime activities. These are, after all, what interest most tourists. But, we’re here with an underneath the starlight guide of what you could do after dark during your stay here.

Get some fine dining

Even if you aren’t much of a night owl, a decent meal is a fantastic way to pass any vacation evening. Lucky for you, there are plenty of SC options available to you. As you’re away, though, why not treat yourself to a little fine dining during your stay? An eating experience like this is sure to make those evening meals something special. If you go for a three-course option, you could even enjoy your whole evening here without worry. Restaurants to look out for include Cannon Green on Spring street, which holds a signature dish of raviolo with duck egg, spinach, ricotta, and garlic chips. Their Mediterranean menu focuses on fresh produce and is sure to impress.

If that doesn’t appeal, why not head to Slightly North Of Broad, Charleston’s southern bistro? This spectacular restaurant is set in a building from way back in the 1700s. With a signature dish of shrimp and grits, an eating experience here is sure to impress, as well as introducing you to a whole new way of dining. And, the options don’t end there. Other names to look out for include Circa 1886 and Trattoria Lucca to name a few. Whatever your tastes, you can bet that at least one of the restaurants on offer will meet them down to the ground. With a good glass of wine and a candlelit view, these could keep you busy for every long evening of your trip.

Take a stroll along the beach

Let us not forget that SC is famed for its stunning beaches. Those don’t disappear when the sun goes down, you know. If you’re away for a romantic weekend or enjoying time with friends, a night beach stroll could be the ideal thing. Myrtle Beach is one of the most iconic beaches on offer. It’s also a hotspot for night time activity, with walkers regularly heading here at all hours. It is worth noting that you may want to take a flashlight along with you to be on the safe side. Not all beach resorts here have boardwalk lighting, after all. But, with other walkers guaranteed, you’re sure to feel safe and relaxed while strolling here. If you fancy really getting stuck into the beach-based nightlife, you may even want to book options like the jellyfish walks offered by Sea Crest Oceanfront Resort. These are sure to see you observing beach life in a way that you would never be able to during the day. They can also make sure that your SC nights are just as action-packed as your days are sure to be.

Make the most of the nightlife

If a quiet evening doesn’t appeal to you, note that there’s plenty of nightlife to enjoy in and around SC, too. Charleston especially seems to come alive in the night, with bars like Cure Nightclub and Revelry Brewing. If you want to go really wild, why not book up for an unforgettable bar hopping tour around town to keep you occupied? If drinking isn’t your thing, rest easy that there’s still plenty on offer. Escape rooms have also become pretty popular part in South Carolina nightlife, with three on offer. Take your pick from options in Lexington, Cayce, and Myrtle Beach. Here, you can pick between rooms with themes like espionage and mutiny. One thing’s for sure; a trip here is guaranteed to see you have a whole load of fun all evening long. Finish that night off with a visit to one of the restaurants mentioned, and you can bet that you’re onto a winner.

Book up to see a show

Is there any better way to spend the evening than watching a live show? This is something few of us get around to in our home towns, but vacation is the ideal chance to get stuck in. Even better, SC has a whole load of theatre options which are sure to impress. Endless theatre groups always perform around the city, all of which guarantee a fantastic night out. Upcoming shows include Chicago and Death of a Salesman. You could even head to one-off locations like Woolfe Street Playhouse, a converted warehouse which hosts some fantastic shows. Either way, make sure that you book up well ahead of time to secure your spot. You can bet that any show worth seeing will get booked up pretty fast. Talk about getting cultured during your time away!
