If you are trying to decide on where to go for your next holiday, one place that does not disappoint is Mauritius. There are many different reasons why you should visit this island country, and in this blog post, we are going to explore some of these reasons in further detail.

Shopping

There are lots of things to do in Mauritius, and shopping is certainly one of these things. The best place to shop is at Le Caudan Waterfront. Here, you can enjoy luxury shopping while facing the harbour. It is the most beautiful setting. There are 170 boutiques here, including well-known retail brands and designers, from Mango to Gucci. There are also lots of entertainment options as well, including a casino.

The Grand Bassin

Another reason why you should consider visiting Mauritius is so that you can take a dip in the Grand Bassin. This is a natural lake that is situated within a volcano crater (an extinct one!). According to mythology, the water in this lake has been sourced from India’s sacred Ganges river.

Chamarel Coloured Earth

Chamarel is a small village in Mauritius, which has become one of the most popular tourist spots over there. What makes this part of the world so unique is that it boasts seven different colours of sand. From the observation deck, you will be able to see a stunning hue of colours, including green, purple, violet, brown, red, yellow, and even blue. You can carry a test tube filled with the sand to take home with you as a souvenir.

Dolphin spotting

As mentioned, there are lots of different activities that you can enjoy while you are in Mauritius, and dolphin spotting is certainly one of these. The dolphin cruise is one of the most popular activities in this part of the world. It takes place just before sunrise, so very early in the morning. You will be taken to the open sea where you will be able to witness these incredible creatures.

Watersports

If you are an adrenaline seeker, you will find plenty to keep you busy in Mauritius, as there are lots of different watersports for you to enjoy. When you go diving here, you can expect incredible shipwrecks dating back to the 18th and 19th centuries, as well as multi-coloured marine life, and bright corals. Some dives require certification, which you can get while you are on holiday, however, there are also some more straightforward dives that do not require this.

As you can see, there is a lot to love about Mauritius. If you are currently planning your next vacation, this is definitely a place that you should consider. It has so much to offer, with that extra sprinkling of luxury too. You won’t be disappointed.
