We all prefer different types of travel and for those who are more adventurous and find lying by the pool or on a beach boring, will definitely find this guide useful. Here are the best places to travel in the world for hiking and you can find the best walking sticks to help with your hike too.

Kilimanjaro, Africa

One of the most popular spots for hiking, Africa’s highest peak is definitely one that many travellers would have marked on their bucket list. There's plenty of climbing routes available and the climb to the top itself is seven days in total. So if you fancy a different type of holiday this year, then this is it. The best times of the year to do the hike are January to March and June to October.

A tip for climbing Kilimanjaro is to take a longer route, rather than a short trip as this helps reduce the risk of altitude sickness.

Grand Canyon, USA

The best hiking for the Grand Canyon is the rim-to-rim route. This gives you the best sights of the canyon itself, and it’s most breathtaking features. Again there are a number of routes that you can take with some taking around 5-6 hours to complete. The best times of the year to do the hike are March, April and May. This is when the crowds are more manageable and the temperature is milder.

A tip for hiking in the Grand Canyon is to plan ahead. From the rim to the river, it is possible to do it in one day, but it’s difficult. Planning ahead will help you get the most out of your hike.

Puez-Odle Altopiano, Italy

It involves plenty of climbing, but this hike is a beautiful one. Stunning, lush green meadows and picturesque tops, it’s no wonder Puez-Odle Altopiano is a popular spot for hikers and outdoor explorers. Like other locations, this area has a lot of routes, and it usually takes around 7 hours to do. The best time of year to hike here is during the summer when the wildflowers are in bloom.

As this has a variety of route options, it’s best to do your research well and take a look at the map once you arrive to figure out what’s best for you and your group.

Great Wall Of China, China

It’s much more of a tourist spot, but it’s still a worthy hike which you can do over one or two days. A truly historical sight, the wall is a staggering 5,000 miles long, can you imagine the amount of workers and time it took to build it?! The best times of the year to experience the great wall are spring, early summer and autumn. A lot of hotels and hostels will provide transport to and from the wall, so be sure to plan ahead with your accommodations to make sure you can go there and back.

So that’s just a few of the best places to hike across the globe, although there are plenty more, waiting to be explored.
