Part of an adventurous vacation is traversing the land, mountains, and the sea. If you're not the type of person to leave the beach, maybe it's time to get in the ocean. Scuba diving vacations come in many different shapes and sizes, and if you've never done it before, it's time to get on your scuba gear! So, where are the best places to go for scuba diving vacations, so you can get up close and personal with the sea life?
Cozumel
Some resorts in Cozumel, Mexico are great for divers as they offer unlimited tanks for shore diving but it's still a good idea for you to bring your own equipment. That's the thing with diving, if you are getting equipment from the suppliers, you don't know what sort of quality they are. Instead, you can order some of the best items online from places like Ninja Shark, and you can take advantage of the unlimited tanks, but still have good quality breathing apparatus. The great thing about these resorts in Cozumel is that they're all-inclusive, so you can take advantage of mealtimes, and make friends while you're there too.
Puerto Galera
This spot in the Philippines is not just a place to see some of the most beautiful coral reefs in the world; it's a real party place. If you've never experienced the Philippines, it's a great way to get an idea of the culture up close. In fact, the Marco Vincent Dive Resort on the island of Mindoro throws one hell of a party! There's nothing quite like going diving the next day after partying all night, but just be sure you've got ways and means to nurse that sore head. But, when you have an encounter with sweetlips or sharks, this is pretty sobering!
Playas Del Coco
On the Pacific side of Costa Rica, this beach town is probably one of the quietest diving destinations in the world. This isn't because the place is bereft of life, but the diving boats will actually take you out by yourself if there aren't any other people around. In addition to this, you've got a lot of great nightlife, and if you are looking to develop your sports diving experiences, they run a PADI career development center.
Great Barrier Reef
You can't talk about diving without mentioning the Great Barrier Reef. Home to more than 2,900 reefs, you've got more than your fair share of choices. Although it's easy to consider the Great Barrier Reef as one of those clichéd destinations - we all know how amazing it is as a place, because we've all seen it on TV, but once you are there, in the water, staring at a striped surgeonfish and all of its beautiful colors, it makes you realize how amazing the underwater world is.
But if you are looking for somewhere closer to home, there's no harm in getting acquainted with your home country and seeing what they have underwater. That's the great thing about the world we live in, you don't have to go far to see beauty in its purest form, and, it doesn't get much better than the underwater world.
