Do you have a car journey ahead of you? Maybe you’re just commuting from your home to work, picking up a relative, or dropping the kids off at school. Whilst these mundane activities can become annoying at times, all in all they’re not so bad. But then you consider the amount of travelling you’re going to have to do in a car while on a long haul to reach a holiday destination and your heart just sinks.

Have an adaptable phone charger stored in your car on principle if you don’t already, and make sure you never run out of juice when you’re on the road. Store Stuff on the Roof

Yes, it’s something your dad would always recommend and now it’s time to put this practice into motion. After all, you’re meant to fit you, your family, your friends, and maybe even a pet in the back of a car and that means sacrificing storing all your packages inside with you. Don’t worry, it’s completely safe to do and honestly recommended by a lot of long time travellers.

Let’s think: pack your car full of suitcases and bags, possibly obscuring your road vision, rattling around and changing the maneuverability of your vehicle, and just taking up all the space you’re meant to stretch out in? Or pack it all on the roof with some tie down straps and make sure you’re always travelling light and happy? I’m sure it won’t be too hard for you to make the right decision here!

Pack a Cooler

This way you’ll keep all your snacks and drinks in a chilled state, non sticky or melted if you’re driving through a very hot part of a country. When you can reach back to grab a Cola that’s got condensation to prove how nice it’s going to be to drink it, you’re going to be reclining in comfort in the front seat.

Put Your Map Apps on Offline Mode

Map apps are beating the traditional map out of the water, and that means you should always have one on your phone that you can access 24/7. You never know when you’re going to get lost, when the Sat Nav stops working, or when the map you keep in the car is so outdated there’s no point in following it.

Not to mention, you never know when you’re going to run out of 4G or away from any satellite coverage. That’s one of the worst situations to find yourself in when you’re in a foreign area, so follow Google’s own tutorial on how to download one of their maps and prepare for any mishap on your meant-to-be-comfortable journey.

Travelling comfortably seems like a hard thing to do; you’re not at home or anywhere near it, you don’t have your own bed to fall into, and you can run out of snacks at any time with no clear way of how to get more.
