Holidays are a great time for everyone to experience. You’ve got a lot of free time on your hands, money saved up for at least half a trip around the world, and friends and family in on the plan to make sure you’re never doing something alone. It’s a fun time, sure, but it can also start to become a little boring if you’re someone who’s sick of family vacations to Tybee Island year after year!
So, if you’re the kind of person who likes to travel a lot, now’s the time to change up your vacationing model and do something a little more different - a little more special on your next trip away. Find Somewhere Unique to Stay
Finding somewhere unique to stay can be hard if you don’t know your options and some people really don't like to surf on strangers' couches - considering you’re in another country and possibly have your kids with you. But don’t worry, you’re not going to have to resort to this just to experience something different: there’s more to try!
You can go camping, sleep on a canal boat, try a hostel for the first time in your life, meet people through shared accommodations or try something a little more private for your needs - meaning you’ll be able to get up to whatever you want whilst you’re on holiday (as long as you don’t damage anything!). Look into short term rentals before you try any other accommodations, as hotels are always going to be there, and feel free to hire out an apartment that’s all yours for a week or so. Think of the parties or night long raves you can hold within your own friendship group or family!
Focus on the History
Yes, the downtown life of the metro centre you’ve headed to for your holiday is full of life, but that life is going to get louder and louder as your holiday goes on and you can join in at any point! However, the quieter and calmer side of your holiday usually has a time limit, as historic places have closing times and often aren’t accessible throughout the whole year.
So, go on a castle hunt and sprinkle some medieval magic into your vacation. Go on a church crawl and see all of the amazing architecture. Go on an historic pub drive if you like the idea of grabbing a drink in some wild western saloon and possibly very haunted social places. Whatever kind of history interests you have, go and search for it on your next holiday.
