Located along University Avenue in the Hillcrest Neighborhood of San Diego sits a quick service gourmet taqueria called Libertad | Tacos a la Brasa. This restaurant was stumbled upon accidentally after the original restaurant we were going to was completely full. We actually walked past this restaurant on our way to the other. Though I’m not sure if we missed out on anything at the first restaurant, this place was amazing; not just their food but also how they give back to their community.

Their menu has delicious handmade tortillas and great selection of meats and seafood to choose from. We ordered Shrimp "La Foresta" and “El Tacubano” tacos, along with rice & beans. The craving for shrimp tacos that night was real, and their shrimp ”La Foresta” definitely hit the spot. The shrimp were perfectly fried, and the

sauce was deliciously spicy. The atmosphere was very chill, even though they were pretty busy, and the customer service was decent.

One thing that stands out about Libertad | Tacos a la Brasa is that they enjoy giving back to their community as they are a “Not for Profit Taco Shop”. Each month they donate 100% of their profits to a different charity. You can submit a charity through their website https://www.cohnrestaurants.com/tacoslibertad. Currently, they are donating to the rob benzon foundation. So, go get yourself a delicious taco and donate to a great cause!
